It was rather a surreal weekend in London following last week’s terrorist attack at Westminster. We all felt mixed emotions as we headed to our first venue on the tube alongside thousands of other everyday people getting on with their lives.
For this year’s exhibition, we joined forces with a handful of other Devon agents: Webbers, Sawdye & Harris, Boyce Brixham, and Stevens’ to name a few. With more agents on board, we were able to cover a larger area of the county and appeal to a wider audience of people looking to move out of the city.
On Friday, we were based in Park Lane, Mayfair in central London for the day – the National Property Centre opposite Hyde Park, and between Aston Martin and Pagani car showrooms (I confess we were like kids outside a toyshop with our faces pressed against the windows..). On Saturday the show moved to Surrey in the lovely town of Guildford, about 27 miles out of central London.
Both days saw a constant flow of foot traffic – we were flat out talking about the wonderful county of Devon and its beautiful rolling countryside and spectacular coastlines. We even had a visit from a famous surfer who is considering a second home in the area!
Our new 3D Showcase Tours stirred a great deal of excitement too with many positive comments on how realistic the on-line experience is, and how much time could be saved by only viewing suitable properties – especially when living 200 miles away from the area. All very good!
So, the show closed at the end of Saturday, and was declared a resounding success, whilst tinged with sadness of last Wednesday’s events. Many new contacts made, lots of business cards handed out, and plenty of excitement from people looking to start new lives in this lovely part of the world. Happy days!
