Helmores Cover Coast to Coast for South West Charity
As part of our fundraising challenge for Children’s Hospice South West, we have completed an epic cycling, walking and running journey from Ilfracombe to Exmouth.
Following the Tarka Trail, roads and the Exe Estuary cycle route members of the Helmores team sponsored by local businesses and the public have completed the 93 mile route in relays which in total came to 350 miles between them.
The adventure is part of our commitment to the Children’s Hospice South West £50 Challenge; using business skills and innovation to generate as much money as possible for the charity from a £50 start-up investment and growing it over three months.
A JustGiving page has been set up for donations and the challenge has helped us to smash our target of £2000 and there’s still a few days to go!
Many businesses including a fantastic and very kind donation by Mayflower Bathrooms, Wellington, sponsored the team.
Isabel Brice of Mayflower Bathrooms were keen to support this challenge “Mayflower Bathrooms are delighted to be donating to the Helmores Coast to Coast 2016 charity raising money for the Children’s hospice south west. The choice of charity made it a very easy decision to donate and we wish everyone taking part the very best of luck“
The route started in Ilfracombe with road bikes heading south to the first part of the relay in Braunton with another 4 on the Tarka Trail, and 2 walkers left Fremington Quay at the same time before then handing back to the road bikes at Meeth. After a cycle cross county taking in some beautiful countryside (and a slice of cake at the office in Crediton), the afternoon team assembled on the Exe for more running, walking and cycling along the river and estuary to finish in Exmouth happy, soggy and exhausted!
Julie Bevan of Helmores, who was the driving force in entering the whole team into the £50 challenge is feeling proud – “I’m so pleased that the whole team have embraced this and we’ve had so many fundraisers from cake sales to this epic challenge and everyone has player their part. We’re grateful for all of the donations received so far but there’s still time to donate!”.
